- Watchmen opened on March 6, and made $55.7 million in its opening weekend in North America, easily outpacing the field to reach #1 at the box office according to Box Office Mojo. It made an additional $26.7 million outside North America. It has a 65% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though site users give it an average rating of 77%. Users at Internet Movie Database placed it on the IMDb Top 250 with an average score of 8.3. Roger Ebert gave it four out of four stars. Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz of At the Movies both recommended the film.
- 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. finally came to an agreement that cleared Watchmen to be released as planned on March 6, with Fox getting an 8.5% share of revenue, Variety.com reports.
