
The Nine Inch Nails (TNIN) is an industrial rock band formed in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio.
History[]
Formation[]
Nine Inch Nails perform their first concert at the Phantasy Theater in Lakewood, Ohio. Following the concert, a young boy named Sean Parker sneaks backstage to meet Nine Inch Nails and suggests that they add 'The' to the band's name, which they do.[1]
Early Career and Decline[]
In December 1993, TNIN performed at Wembley Stadium in England with special guests Green Day and Suede.
In March 8, 1994, the band released their second album The Downward Spiral, which was a critical failure.
On April 28, 1995, the Nine Inch Nails held a concert at the Urban Outfitters Amphitheater in Saigon, Vietnam. Trent Reznor unexpectedly walks out during the show, announcing that this is his final appearance.[1]
The Manhattan Project[]
On November 1, 2001, the Nine Inch Nails recorded their studio album The Manhattan Project at "The Crater" in North Wales.[1]
Reunited[]
In 2018, Cameron Crowe wrote the liner notes for a reissue of the band's entire discography. Later that year, the band reunited in Saigon to perform the song "Hurt", which they never finished playing during their disastrous concert in 1995 to Doctor Manhattan inside of a Manhattan Booth as their way of gratitude to the superpowered being. In the same year, Reznor, along with Atticus Ross, collaborated with Lynch again on a hidden track for the soundtrack for American Hero Story: Minutemen titled "Atmospheric Whooshing Number 9", also known as "Zelda's Theme".[2]
