Spark Hydrants are powering stations for electric vehicles developed by Veidt Enterprises.
History[]
Following the emergence of Doctor Manhattan, Adrian Veidt, quickly capitalized on the superpowered being's newly introduced power system by patenting spark hydrants, essentially powering stations for electric cars.
HBO Timeline[]
Discontinued[]
After Doctor Manhattan was accused of being cancerous, Adrian Veidt's patent for spark hydrants, became worthless after the auto industry ceased production of electric cars powered by M-class lithium amid concerns that all things Manhattan might be carcinogenic.
Trivia[]
- Spark hydrants appear throughout the series, as Bernie (the young comic book reader reading Tales of the Black Freighter throughout the series) warms himself by sitting on one of them. In Watchmen #12, when the "alien" attack on Earth wiped out most of New York City, the top of the spark hydrant is knocked off and its sockets look like the eyes on the smiley face badge, along with the blood in the same place as it is on Comedian's badge (with the curved edge of the socket mimicking the smile of the badge).
- The lightning bolt symbol on the spark hydrants also resembles the Flash's signature logo.
