Trivia[]
- It can be presumed that the Saigon Police Department is the successor to at least parts of the former Republic of Vietnam National Police (Cảnh sát Quốc gia) stationed in the city, with the new force retaining those who supported the nations control by the United States.
- Although an American state, the police cruisers still have markings in both English and Vietnamese, with the translation from Vietnamese simply stating "Police".
- By 1985, police officers carry the Makarov PM (most likely surplus from the Vietnam War).
- Oddly enough, the department's uniforms resemble those of post-1975 communist Vietnam rather than those of the pre-1975 South Vietnamese police.
