The one-eyed puppeteer was a terrorist and member of the Vietnamese Liberation Front.
Biography[]
During VVN Day in 1987, a one-eyed puppeteer affiliated with the Vietnamese Liberation Front orchestrated a bombing attack in Saigon. The puppeteer handed a backpack containing an explosive device to a young man on a bicycle, who then rode toward a gathering of U.S. Army soldiers. As he reached them, he leapt forward, shouting, "Death to the invaders!" before the bomb detonated. The explosion killed several people, including the soldiers and civilians nearby—among them, Marcus and Elise Abar.
Following the attack, the puppeteer was apprehended by the Saigon Police Department. Survivor Angela Abar, the daughter of Marcus and Elise, identified the perpetrator. Shortly thereafter, the puppeteer was extrajudicially executed.[1]
