Daniel Dreiberg reading an of the New York Gazette

The New York Gazette is an American newspaper based in New York City.

History[]

In 1939, the New York Gazette reports the Minutemen's success in unearthing a hidden arsenal.[1]

In 1985, the newspaper published a story titled "Vietnam 51st State: Official!" regarding Vietnam becoming the country's 51st state.

Trivia[]

  • The New York Gazette is a highly popular publication within the world of Watchmen, as multiple characters from a vast array of backgrounds and ideologies are shown throughout the narrative reading editions of it quite often and is used as a plot device to contextualize the story's events to the reader.
  • It appears to function as this universe's equivalent of the New York Times, though an August 1945 edition[2]of the Times seems to show up in issue 4.
    • The title "Times" is seen again in 1985 in its issue regarding Vietnam becoming the 51st American state.[3] As the title doesn't appear anywhere else, it is likely a goof.
