Laura Cummings was the daughter of a paranoid man whose trauma from the events of the 11/2 Psychic Shockwave event drove him to train her to trust no one and be the best shot she could be. Years later, donning a mask and calling herself The Kid, Cummings gained a partner in Rorschach, and died alongside him in an attempt to take out presidential candidate Gavin Turley.

Laura Cummings was born sometime in 2001 in Hanna, Wyoming to Mr. Cummings and Mrs. Cummings.
At a very young age, Mrs. Cummings was murdered by her husband after he came to the conclusion that she was being mind controlled by the squids. Laura was trained by her father to be an expert sharpshooter and regularly partook in target practice alongside members of the conspiracy theorist anti-squid militia that her father was a part of.
