After Laurie Juspeczyk jammed a boot heel into the Chairman's neck, he ran out in front of a bus carrying Ken Kesey and several hippies and died instantly.[1]

- Ken Kesey was a prominent countercultural figure in the 1960s who considered himself a link between the Beat Generation of the 1950s and the hippies of the 60s.
- In Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre, a drug known as Kesey Test 5, is named after Kesey himself. This could most likely be a reference to his participation in government studies involving hallucinogenic drugs (including mescaline and LSD) to supplement his income.
