A U.S. Army Captain who served in the Vietnam War under Colonel Pitch. He believed that the Vietnamese just wanted to be left alone and he never considered it a real war, as neither side had attempted a direct approach; should it erupt to a full-fledged war, that would be with themselves, as he was worried that half of South Vietnam was allied to the Viet-Cong. That was until his company was joined by the Comedian who advised for a direct approach. He was surprised to hear that the Comedian believed it was a war against communism.
In his first appearance, Holden's uniform doesn'thave the Captain's insignia.
