Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. is the vice president of the United States to Richard Nixon.
In the early 1970s, one of Richard Nixon's presidential aides accidentally spilled a glass of water and apologized. Gerald Ford replied, "That's ok, nobody's human". After this blunder, Adrian Veidt, in an interview with Nova Express, jokingly referred to Nixon's close aides as "humanoids".
A picture of them shaking hands at the banquet was founded in Blake's apartment by homicide detective Joe Bourquin of the New York City Police Department in October 1985. He and Steven Fine joked whether they should consider Ford a suspect for Blake's murder.
- In reality Gerald Ford (1913-2006) was 38th president of the United States (1974-1977) and earlier the 40th vice president of the United States (1973-1974).
- His stumbling in the book was a comic nod to his clumsiness.
