David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie, was an singer-songwriter and actor. He was a leading figure in the music industry and is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
Biography[]
David Bowie was a regular at Studio 54, a nightclub in New York City, which he frequented alongside his friends Mick Jagger and Adrian Veidt. On one occasion, portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz snaps his picture as he entered the club with Veidt and Jagger.[1]
Trivia[]
- David Bowie was known to have been bisexual. Adrian Veidt's association with Bowie would've reinforced Rorschach's suspicions of Veidt's sexuality.
- According to the Watchmen: The Film Companion, the opening scene featuring Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust persona is set in 1976. In the real world, however, Bowie was going by the persona of the Thin White Duke. The most likely in-universe explanation for why Bowie continued his Ziggy Stardust persona into the later half of the decade was because Doctor Manhattan's influence encouraged him to keep up the outer space and glam science fiction image.[2]
Behind the Scenes[]
- J.R. Killigrew portrays David Bowie in the opening scene in the film Watchmen.
