Doctor Manhattan confronts Moloch

Dante's was an underground vice-den owned by Edgar Jacobi.

History[]

Dante's served as Edgar Jacobi's base of operations to run his criminal activities.

In 1960, Moloch had his first encounter with Doctor Manhattan when he showed up at Dante's to stop his exploits and blew up the head of one of his henchmen. Moloch escaped the vice-den before he can be apprehended.[1]

In the late 1960s, Ozymandias succeeded in taking down Moloch's network of crime syndicates and stormed into Dante's to confront him. Jacobi was ultimately defeated and taken into custody. Following his arrest, Dante's was shut down for good.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Dante’s is a reference to Dante Alighieri, the Italian writer best known for the Divine Comedy, a narrative poem about a journey through the afterlife including a trip through Hell. The name and red lighting seem to be intended to invoke a hellish atmosphere.
