S1e7 cyclops lair

Cyclops was a secret white supremacist order that has been active since at least the 1930s.

History[]

Cyclops was originally created as an offshoot to the Ku Klux Klan. In the 1930s, the New York cell of the organization engaged in a conspiracy where they would use mind control technology to embed messages in films to convince African-Americans to engage in violence against one another through a method known as mesmerism. Cyclops planned to distribute their mesmerism projectors across the country.

The modern incarnation of the organization appears to be a cabal of white supremacists who act as the leadership of the hate group and domestic terrorist organization the Seventh Kavalry. The organization main goal was to find and replace Doctor Manhattan with one of their own members and use their acquired power to restore "racial balance" in America. Unbeknownst to them, however, trillionaire industrialist Lady Trieu had been manipulating their organization as a means to locate Manhattan and usurp his powers from him. Once the Seventh Kavalry successfully managed to captured Doctor Manhattan, Trieu teleported the members of Cyclops to a square in Greenwood.

After revealing that Joe Keene died after trying to absorb the unfiltered energy from Doctor Manhattan's body, she proceeds to read a letter written by Will Reeves that denounces Cyclops for their crimes against people of color. Unwilling to hear the letter, Jane Crawford hatefully tells Trieu to just kill them, which she does.

  • It also shares parallels with Marvel's Hydra, which, like Cyclops, is a secret criminal organization named after a creature from Greek mythology and having history of fascism and white supremacy.
