Lillian Charlton Home for Problem Children is a reform institution based in New Jersey founded by Lillian Charlton.[1]
History[]

Walter Kovacs in front of the Lillian Charlton Home for Problem Children, 1956
After violently assaulting two older neighborhood children bullying him about his mother, Sylvia Kovacs, being a prostitute, Walter Kovacs (who later became the violent costumed adventurer known as Rorschach) entered the custody of Charlton Home from 1951 to 1956. Removed from his mother's negative influence, Walter showed significant improvement. Kovacs left Charlton Home and acquired a job in the garment industry.[2][3]
Trivia[]
- Charlton Home was named after Charlton Comics, the now-defunct comic book company that during the Silver Age of comics, produced superheroes that later became the basis for the main characters of Watchmen, such as the Question, who Rorschach is based on.
