Bob Krankk is a costumed criminal formerly known as Buzzbomb.
Biography[]
Bob Krankk was a small time criminal who worked as a janitor for a laboratory. One night during work a scientist named Elmo Greensback called him into his lab to demonstrate a flight suit that he had working on for the last three years. Krankk was so impressed with the suit's abilities that he shot Greensback dead and grabbed the suit for himself. As soon as Krankk put on the suit, he began to think of himself as invincible. From that day forward, Krankk decided to become a supervillain and called himself Buzzbomb.
Buzzbomb emerged just after the Minutemen disbanded and was a frequent foe of Nite Owl. As far as anyone knows, Buzzbomb never pulled off a successful crime. Despite his incompetence and constant imprisonment, every battle Buzzbomb was ever involved in was a complete "victory" in his eyes, even through several ended with Krankk being thrown in jail. His closest, as well as his most infamous, crime was to steal the United States Constitution. Krankk actually held the document in his hand for a couple of minutes before being beaten senseless by Nite Owl and the local police.
Krankk was eventually apprehended and imprisoned in Riker's Island, putting an end to his criminal career. Despite his imprisonment, Krankk became comfortable "ruling the world from his island palace" and longed for the day when he can finally face his imagined arch enemy, Doctor Manhattan, in man-to-man combat.[1]
Trivia[]
- Despite being listed as a notable villain in the Watchmen Sourcebook, Buzzbomb was never seen or mentioned in the original series. However, when Hollis Mason fights with a gangsters, one of the criminals seems to him to be a villain similar to the description of this character.
