Bian My was the mother of Lady Trieu.

Biography[]

Bian My was born in a small village outside of My Lai in Vietnam. Growing up she had to endure the onslaught of the Vietnam War and the war crimes that were committed by Doctor Manhattan and the United States military. In 1971, the Comedian and his military unit, the Blazin' Commandos, burned her village to the ground and was forced to go on a death march. Following America's victory in the war, she nearly became a victim of the purge sweeps that were committed afterward until Adrian Veidt stepped in and took in her and several Viet Cong refugees as servants to Karnak, Antarctica.[1][2][3]

Bian worked as a cleaning woman for Veidt, but she would eventually grow resentful of her employer. Over the years, she would study Veidt while keeping a low-profile waiting for the right moment to defy her employer.

In November 1st, 1985, Bian broke into Veidt's study, entered his passcode, and received access to his supply of scientifically preserved semen. Wanting to create a child to undermine the man, Bian artificially inseminated herself, cursing Veidt as she did so. Afterwards, Bian disappeared and returned to Vietnam. Veidt didn't even notice that either his cleaning woman or the vial was missing.[3]

In July 1986, Bian had a daughter who would later be named Lady Trieu, a name she allowed her daughter to choose when she was five years old. Having ambitions for her daughter to become the smartest woman in the world, Bian trained Trieu with tough love by constantly challenging her. Bian pushed Trieu hard to become "the world's smartest woman, brighter than a sky full of stars, a redemptive blessing to the whole planet." Her methods included isolation, tough love, "enhanced transcendental meditation", and according to Barry D. Shanes, Trieu's former tutor in psychic combat, a "Duel to the Death on multiple planes of existence, corporeal and mental." Though her methods could be seen as cold, they were successful, and Trieu became a successful genius.

Bian wrote a memoir about raising a child prodigy entitled (rough English translation) Pachyderm Mom, which became a bestseller in Vietnam and the commonwealths of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Burma.[1]

Eventually, when Trieu was an adult, Bian died. However, Trieu, having become one of the leading experts in genetic cloning and wanting to continue to impress her mother with her accomplishments yet to come, cloned Bian and raised her as her daughter, reintegrating the original Bian's memories into the young girl while she slept with Trieu's experimental drug Nostalgia.[4]

Personality[]

Bian My's personality is marked by incredible resilience and resourcefulness. Growing up amidst the horrors of the Vietnam War, she faced numerous adversities, including the destruction of her village and the subsequent hardships of a death march. Despite these challenges, she survived and found ways to navigate a dangerous and oppressive environment. Her ability to endure and adapt highlights a core strength of character, showcasing her determination and ingenuity.

Her determination is further evident in her meticulous study of Adrian Veidt while working as a cleaning woman. She harbored a deep-seated resentment towards him and patiently waited for the right moment to act. Her daring break into Veidt's study and the subsequent theft of his preserved semen demonstrates her willingness to take bold, calculated risks to achieve her goals. This aspect of her personality underscores a fierce willpower and an unyielding spirit.

Bian is highly intelligent and calculating, traits that allow her to outmaneuver Veidt without his notice. She used her intelligence not only to survive but also to exact a form of revenge by creating a child who would challenge and undermine him. Her strategic thinking and foresight in planning this act of defiance reveal a mind that is both sharp and vengeful.

Bian's ambitions for her daughter, Lady Trieu, reflect her visionary mindset. She aspired for Trieu to become the world's smartest woman and a "redemptive blessing to the whole planet." This vision drove her to employ rigorous and sometimes harsh methods to train her daughter, highlighting her intense ambition and high expectations. While her methods were extreme, they were rooted in a desire to see Trieu excel and fulfill the lofty ambitions Bian had set for her. This aspect of her personality reveals a complex blend of love, sternness, and high standards.

Bian's actions towards Veidt and her subsequent efforts to undermine him through Trieu indicate a deeply vindictive streak.
