  • A mob of hundreds of white residents of Tulsa, Oklahoma stormed the county courthouse to take a white prisoner named Roy Belton into their own hands; they lynched him that night.[3][4]

  • A violent massacre known as the Tulsa race massacre occurs, resulting in the destruction of the prosperous black community of Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaving thousands of Tulsans homeless, businesses destroyed, and an entire neighborhood ransacked. As many as 300 black residents were murdered as a result of the massacre.[3][5]
